We all have seen that one person with a zest for life that they never seem to loose. The one person who gives his best even after repeated failures and that one person who seems hell-bent on achieving success. We all want to be like them, to have unbeatable determination. But have you ever wondered what makes them so unique and different? What do these individuals have that we lack? Well, let me tell you the secret to that kind of determination; A GROWTH MINDSET.

There are two types of people in this world, the ones with a “GROWTH MINDSET” and the ones with a “FIXED MINDSET”.

A Growth Mindset can be defined as :

The belief that with enough efforts and time one can improve anything and EVERYTHING about his life.

On the other hand people with a fixed mindset think that they can’t change their levels of skills and talents, and as a result they think that changing their lives is IMPOSSIBLE. So why would they even try something they think can’t happen?

This is where the GROWTH MINDSET comes to the rescue.

As Winston Churchill says :

“Continuous effort, not strength or intelligence – is the key to unlocking our potential.”

So, if one wants to achieve success in life one MUST acquire a growth mindset. Following are the four things that you need to do in order to ACHIEVE A GROWTH MINDSET.

1- Accept Your Flaws:

“We are flawed creatures, all of us. Some of us think that means we should fix our flaws. But get rid of my flaws and there would be no one left.”

Sarah Vowell, Take the Cannoli.

The people with a GROWTH MINDSET accept their flaws. Because they know that in order to conquer your flaws you must first accept that you have flaws. Once you have accept your flaws you’ll automatically make a conscious effort to eliminate them and replace them with strengths.

People with a growth mindset view their flaws as challenges to conquer. They know that once you have mastered your own mind and your own self, then you can master anything.

2- Start Viewing Your Failures As A Part Of Your Learning Process :

“Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor.”

Truman Capote.

Let’s face it, failing at something you tried hard for just makes you feel like a loser. Nobody likes to fail. Failure, if allowed can take one’s self esteem and beat it to pulp. But, those with a growth mindset view failure as a part of the process. They accept that failure is an inevitable part of success and growth .They get up every single time. They decide that they will move on. And believe me, it does not happen automatically. It happens because they rise up everytime time they are thrown down and say, “I don’t care how hard this is, I don’t care how disappointed I am, I’m not going to let this get the best of me. I’m moving on with my life. I will achieve my goal! ”

3- Challenge Yourself :

“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back.”

Paulo Coelho, The Devil and Miss Prym.

When we have a GROWTH MINDSET we enjoy challenges, despite the risks and the fear of failure. We value learning and growth more than our own fears and insecurities. And because our zest for life dominates our insecurities. When you enjoy challenges you don’t shy away from them. You’re constantly exposing yourself to new experiences and as a result you are constantly in a learning zone. Also, those of us with a growth mindset often build new skills more easily because they believe that they can and there challenge orientated mindset helps them to overcome any obstacles that might come in their ways.

4- Find A Purpose And Be Passionate About It :

“Believe in Your Heart ;

Believe in your heart that you’re meant to live a life full of passion, purpose, magic and miracles.”

Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart.

When you know your purpose it’ll become easier for you to find tracks that’ll lead you to your true passion, and that passion becomes a drive for you to achieve something brilliant.

People with a growth mindset always have this sense of purpose within themselves, this purpose helps them to stay motivated and pushes them to move forward in life. Because when you are passionate about something you’re automatically makeing conscious efforts to improve yourself in order to achieve that passion!

Conclusions :

Growth mindset might not be the only necessessory factor of success , but it is surely one of the most important ingredients.

Because it gives you a kind of belief system that automatically pushes you towards success. It makes you BELIEVE in your success, and this PASSION is always UNBEATABLE!

In order to achieve something in life you MUST first BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN. The final worlds come from G.K Nielson

“Successful people are not gifted; they just work hard, then succeed on purpose.”
